Volcanoes

Firstly, we went outside to do an experiment on how volcanoes erupt. In this case, we needed a bottle of diet coke and some Mentos in order to make the eruption. Firstly, Miss Bedford attached a red tube with a string on it to the top of the bottle and she put Mentos inside the red tube. 

 




After that, Miss Bedford pulled the string and the Mentos dropped into the diet coke.

Then, we sat down to watch the explosion. 

As soon as the Mentos were dropped into the diet coke it began to fizz and bubble and the pressure built until it finally erupted!

The reason why we did this experiment was because we were learning about volcanoes and we wanted to know how the magma goes up the magma chamber and explodes out of the volcano!
