Class Baking

On the 5th of February, year 4 had the opportunity to make bread. First of all, we washed our hands to be hygienic and then we put our aprons on. After that, we put the flour in, added yeast and then salt on the opposite side. Then we made a small hole in the middle of the bowl. Inside the hole we poured vegetable oil and water.
Science alert!
The vegetable oil and water didn’t mix together.

A little while later we mixed the yeast, salt and flour together tipping the dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Now came the hard part, getting the dough smooth! What a fluster! We placed it in an oiled bowl. We made it into a ball and dusted the loaf with flour. Finally, we cut a cross, about 6 cm wide, into the top of the loaf. We set the oven to 200 degrees and the dough we baked it for 25-30 minutes. Before we took the bread out, we checked that the bread was brown. In the end we waited for the bread to cool down and placed the loaf on a small plate. It was such a fun day!
