On Saturday the 14th
February. people joined
together to get in the minibus to go on an ice hockey outing. It was an
extremely long journey!
Once we arrived we
had trouble finding a parking place because of the crowds, however we managed to
negotiate with a man to swap his space for ours because our was too small. Mrs
Rand ran to the box office to collect the tickets. Did you know that Mrs Rand’s
husband played professionally for Basingstoke Bison? Soon after we made our
way towards the stairs and seconds later we were drinking and waiting for food.
The majority of people went for chicken nuggets while some went for hot dogs
and burgers. Then it was time for the match! First of all Bracknell Bees came
out and not much cheering was heard as they were the visitors. Seconds later
Basingstoke came out and cheers, clapping and excitement filled the stadium and
it was so loud the stadium nearly fell down!!! Not long after the game began.
In the first period (of3) Joe Rand scored the first goal of the game! It
couldn’t have been better scripted. In the blink of an eye the first 20 minute
was over.
A ten minute break
whooshed by and the second period was on. It began with a eruption! Basingstoke
scored another 4 amazing goals!!!! Unfortunately, Bracknell scored and that took
the scores to 5-1. Everybody was ecstatic with the scores although we were
worried because one more period had to be played. Would we win? Who knows.
Some people
brought money and got some souvenirs such as pictures, key rings and much
more. 5,4,3,2,1 the whistle blew and the game began again! Unfortunately, it
was a very boring period since nobody scored a goal. Little did we know we were
about to meet Joe Rand! Luckily we won 5-1. Phew!!!!! After the match Joe Rand signed
and his good mate Dough accompanied him. Then it was over. We were on our
journey back to school. Not long after we got back everyone was on their way
back home.
Everybody was
really happy. Everyone hopes they win their next match. I don’t think anyone
can wait until we go again. Well I certainly can’t.
