Book Week!!

On Monday  12th January all the  children in Springhill Catholic Primary School were called to the main hall to talk about Book Week. There were many activities to compete in, for example, the weirdest place to read, design your own book mark, design a new cover for favourite book and the reading cards were way more popular than last term!!

Visitors
On every week day a visitor came in to talk about how important reading is in our lives and jobs.

On Monday, 2 footballers came in and they answered all our questions and told us all about their job. Thebe’s mum came in to talk about her job (to help older people). She also told us why old people need to read. She told us her favourite book and author. On Wednesday an author, Chris Wormell, came to tell us about his books and also read one to us. He told us about his childhood and his life at home going up into the loft to read and draw. After that he drew 6 animals put together which were a bunny, a giraffe, a rhino and a snake.
Dress-up dayOn Friday everyone came in dressed up in characters from the book their year group were doing. Year F decided on a Free Style theme, whereas Year 1 selected ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. Year 2 thought dressing up as ‘The B.F.G.’ characters would be fun while Year 3 picked ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. Year 4 chose ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as their characters to dress up as and Year 5 ‘The Witches’. Finally Year 6 were ‘The Twits’. After assembly, everyone went out in the year 3, 4, 5 playground to show our costumes to everyone in Springhill. What a colourful display it was!
